a few things

so first i wanna thank everyone on & off the blog for the sweet and encouraging comments about the job hunt. really, it meant a ton and i thank you all from the bottom of my heart. next, i wanna apologize...i missed out on q&a friday {i know, already!} but i have a somewhat decent excuse. on friday morning, i woke up sick...so sick i headed to urgent care. see here is the proof
ok so i wasn't dying or anything but this weekend we headed to a family vaca at the beach so i wanted to make sure i wasn't contagious. and actually that brings me to my next point. since i was sick and we had to pack {durn that procrastination, it's a killer} i lost time to write my q&a answer. but don't fear {i'm sure you're trembling} i'll get to it! and last point, i mentioned we are at the beach. yes, correct, we are at the beach during tropical storm lee. yep, uh huh! let that sink in. and if you are still confused, here is what i'm trying to relay to you.
this means lots o rain and lots o family bonding. but that includes lots o comfort food and board games! i can handle that! vaca pics to be continued...
o and geaux tigers!

a day in the life of...a birthday girl

my birthday was such a fun day! thanks to my handsome hubby {and amazing friends and family that continuously texted and called}, i felt extremely loved all day! it was such a gorgeous and memorable day and there may have been some happy tears at the end...may ;)

it all started on mothers' day when i received my gorgeous, fantastic, perfect, special...{o you get the idea} birthday/graduation gift from my main man and my parents

that is correct everyone...the canon rebel t1i...i am so stoked! that means many more amazing pics for my memories and my blog readers {ahhh much better than what the iphone could offer. no offense iphone... you've been so good, but i've moved on!} i just can't even fathom the idea that this camera is mine. it's so new and shiny and amazing! ahh we will be together for years to come!

and with that, my actual birthday started with coffee in bed...my guy knows me...
{the book on my nightstand is "vintage jesus" by mark driscoll...so good!}

a little work throughout the day

and into the evening, it brought a gorgeous picnic by the lakefront complete with some of the best food the south has to offer!

we ended the day with a romantic snuggle on the couch with lots of blankets {& without the dogs on top of us} to a girlie movie! notice the bunny socks and tulle on the coffee table ha

the absolute best!
thanks again to husband of mine and everyone else that helped make this day so special!
God is so good...all the time!

a day in the life of...

so i find that im always intrigued by typical people's lives. are you? why are we? I mean many people lead similar lives to ours but i know for me if anyone posts about their day, im always dying to know the whats, whos, wheres, and whys. maybe it's because it gives me a closer bond to the writer behind the blog or maybe it's just cause i'm nosy ;) but whatever the case, i've decided these will be common {yet not overdone} occurrences on my blog: a picture report of my day. so here is is a day in the life of an intern on a field trip....pretty specific huh? :)

since my fieldtrip was close to my hubby's work i just rode in with him

because i was a little early after dropping him off at work i stopped by starbucks to grab a coffee and do my usual morning blog hopping! good ole skinny hazelnut latte'
so today was kind of unusual though because i had a field trip to the bittersweet dairy manufacturer...and the other interns and i got to taste ahhh maze ing non-processed non-artificial flavored yogurts and cheeses
delish!
for you local louisianians, they sell this yogurt at whole foods...it's yummy!
then my class took a trip to a nursing home to learn charting techniques in long-term care while we enjoyed our sample ice cream from the dairy!
after the fieldtrip was over i picked my man up from his long day
and he asked to go to bass pro...i obliged :)
what the heck is a zoom baby brush hog anyway?!?!
if it were up to hubs our living room would look like this. camo=not my favorite
we then got home, ran to hobby lobby and michaels and stayed up making invitations for our friends' honey do shower he is helping host...eeekkkk they are getting married soon!
the reveal of these invitations will be coming soon!
so there was my day....not quite glamorous but such fun!

i dare you....

dear patient i just did a nutrition counseling session with for an hour,

we had a great time chatting about ways to eat healthier, what a great protein source greek yogurt is and how you can slice and freeze your strawberries to use as "ice" in your smoothies. as we chatted this morning, i couldn't help but be a little excited when you expressed your joy in some great ideas i was offering. i was feeling eager and established as i offered you ideas on how to maintain the healthy lifestyle you are so diligently on track with. but as i was sitting there this morning i couldn't help but notice the attire i had thrown on today. in a rush {as always} this morning i threw on my go to black scrubs, twirled my hair a little to make that "o so caitlyn" twisted ponytail, made sure my make up was somewhat on, and grabbed my tennis shoes. i am now reflecting on this morning wardrobe rush because as i shared with you food options, i found myself happy, proud, and confident until....i looked down at those shoes i threw on and thought "how is she taking me seriously with my name stitched on my shoes." i would have offered you a little background on the shoes, but i thought that might not have been relevant to your session. but if i could have...i would have told you that these shoes were given to me by my amazing brother and sister during my freshman year of college. i would have expressed to you how much i "oooo-ed" and "ahhhh-ed" when i finally received them after designing them. i would have enlightened you on how appreciative i was for them and how much i rocked them! i would have told you that i do currently own another pair of tennis shoes, yet they went missing amidst the daily shuffle of life. and i would have also informed you that i too think it's time for new ones! i too think that as i step into my career it should be done with new nike's...some that lack that certain style of the "caitlyn" stitching. some that say, "while i am younger, i am still knowledgeable and serious, stylish yet professional." i would also have told you that i will have to wait to purchase these new and improved shoes when i do get paid for this counseling. so as i sit here and reflect for now i pose a challenge to you dear patient. for now i dare you to take me seriously in my caitlyn signed shoes...or maybe even better, lovely patient, you don't even notice my shoes and only notice the intelligence i exude. a girl can dream!

Remington

So I figured in mentioning all the new things going on at the Keating residence I need to mention one of our newest additions...
He was a stray that a friend was giving away...once I saw his picture I couldn't resist! He's a golden retriever lab mix...so yes he will be big! But he's cute, cuddly, and so sweet...did I mention he's cute?
Here he is with our black lab, Jezebel...awww just a little while ago Jezebel was this tiny...
They are both cute and fun and we love them!
disclaimer: I apologize for the bad iphone pics...one day we'll get a grown up camera!

Fun Food Tip: An egg yolk has almost one day's worth of cholesterol! If you enjoy eggs have one yolk and the rest whites or just egg whites...your heart will thank you!

WAY too long

WOW...so sorry followers I have waited WAY too long for my next blog post but these past 2 months have been CRAZY (no excuse though I know)...so quick recap to catch ya up to speed

The Wedding
...was amazing!!!! So lovely, such a gorgeous day, so filled with Christ...and yet SO warm! As a lot of you know we did have a wedding crasher, which was both fun and exciting! Although she joined the party sans invitation, she was sweet and gave us a gift :)

Aside from that craziness the day was filled with family and fun! We loved it and kind of wish we could relive that day :)

Post Wedding
We are now residing right outside of New Orleans which has both its pros and cons
Pros
-closer to New Orleans
=more day trips
-closer to our third family
=The Singletary's!
-less traffic than BR
-nice area to live in
-more free time because of
less study time
-the start of our new life together!
(THE BIGGEST ONE WE LOVE)

Cons
-further from our BR friends
-less things to do in the city
-away from our home church
-more money spent on gas
-two words THE CAUSEWAY
-we are growing up...out of college life

But all and all it has been an amazing transition! God is so good and has provided beautifully for us! We are truly fortunate to have such an opportunity to know Him and His grace and see it at work!
So now we have been hard at work decorating and getting this place to look like "our" place and we are loving every minute of it! For now here are some recent decorating pics from the new place for your viewing pleasure! O and btw I have now taken up sewing, guitar, and blogging so while my hobbies are fun and busy I PROMISE to devote more time to my followers! :)

Chaz hung this tulle for me while he shook his head...he's so good!

My sister-in-law gave me this chandelier...it has found it's way over our bar :) just need bar stools! with time...

So ironically the guest bathroom is one of my favorite rooms, I just love all the colors...

Poor Chaz, sometimes he doesn't understand my style so when I asked to hang up old rusted shutters he just did what he was asked...but I think he agrees they turned out pretty neat!

Also, I have been racking my brain to figure out how to end these blogs and I have come up with an idea: each time I will give a nutrition tip, whether it's a snack tip or an fyi I figured it would be very appropriate for me to do such! So enjoy:

One of my favorite snacks: celery, peanut butter, and raisins...fiber, protein, and sweet! What's not to love! Try it!

Wedding things (plus random tidbits)

So I have (as well as Chaz) been working FEVERISHLY (what a fun word) on wedding things, packing for the move (which will occur Monday), and just getting everything ready for the beginning of our life together! :) But I knew I needed to make time for my blog followers (all 4 of you...thanks for your devotion! lol) and I was planning on revealing all the wedding details after the big day but I'm so excited and proud of my little programs I had to share!

This is a picture of the front and back of the program. Is that a word search on the program you ask...WHY YES, YES IT IS (pencil included)! It also doubles as a fan for that hot June weather! These little buggers were/are a TON of work but I think so worth it!!! More pics to come after and don't worry I know i promised pics of our new place and they are coming...once I find that stinkin cord! lol

Inspiring verse (located on the program):
"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Ephesians 5:1-2

-what a beautiful wedding verse... thank you Lord for loving us and giving us Christ to express that love!

BTW did you know the slush puppy is made out of apple and grape juice concentrate? Don't think that makes em good for ya though...sorry friends ;)
